I unpacked the two boxes that arrived (boxes '1 of 2' and '2 of 2')and checked against the parts list in the instructions and discovered that the 'adjustable shank' was not included in the shipment, even though it's shown in the product illustration on the website. The adjustable shank is the 2" square, L-shaped component that inserts into the receiver on the vehicle and to which the ball mount bolts.
